The wooden spoons are one of the ancient items of
mankind, and they are not only kitchen or tablecloth necessity, but unique work
of art as well. Some folk considered them to be the means of livelihood, and
decorated it with different prayers, patterns and flowers. In a lot of
countries a wooden spoon became the musical instrument and dancing element. In
most cases the craftsmen made them from fruit trees, and a soup ladle,
tablespoons, teaspoons were ornamented with carvings according to their volume.
Such spoons conferred not only portions but esthetic pleasure as well.
And this is one of the main reasons of mine to save
the wooden spoons for future generation. During the forty years I had been
looking for a wooden spoon in markets, antique and souvenir shops of every
country I’ve visited. Afterwards my kin initiated presenting a wooden spoon. Here you can see several centuries old spoons
of Jews, Indians and Georgians, alongside with Chingiz Aytmatov, Mirsharif Xujayev, Oshiq Erkin, Mashrab Boboyevs’ and others presents.
Nowadays almost in all countries the iron and plastic
spoons are being used. But one shouldn’t forget that a wooden spoon is very
useful to human body and it is ecologically clean production.
There are approximately two hundred spoons relating to four
continents in this museum. Their patterns don’t repeat each other; they are
diverse in their shape and volume.
I hope you will get a lot of pleasure from the
exhibition seeing the spoons which sometimes decorated your tablecloth and
